The case of the mayor’s qualification, the opposition ready to present a complaint: “It is not among the graduates of the Iuav, we want clarity”

After the lack of answers obtained in the council on the qualification of the mayor, Emanuele Zorino, the group “The network for Aquileia” is ready to take legal steps to clarify the matter. “From the administrative point of view we have done everything possible without having answers – clarifies the parent company Luisa Contin -. We now believe that others must decide whether privacy or transparency should prevail in a situation of this type. We have asked for a series of opinions from those in charge and, once obtained, we are ready to present a complaint. We will evaluate whether to the public prosecutor’s office or to the prefect ».

In the curriculum vitae of the mayor, published on the institutional website of the Municipality, reference is made to the achievement of a degree in Architecture. But it is through an Instagram profile, also from the Municipality, that the opposition learned that the first citizen’s qualification would have been obtained at the Iuav of Venice. «After a delay in the publication of the mayor’s CV on the website – Contin continues – we asked for more information on the graduation, also through the presentation of a motion on transparency. Since nothing has changed, after the publication of that post on the Municipality’s social networks with the reference to the Iuav, we have accessed the documents at the university. The response obtained has blown us away, given that the name of Emanuele Zorino is not among the graduates of the Iuav. In recent months we have collected a series of documents that, for now, we believe we will not make public – highlights the parent company – but we believe that at this point it is appropriate to take legal action to clarify the issue. We have nothing against the mayor, and ours certainly does not want to be a derogatory act. But we cannot hide our amazement at the choice not to respond to our requests, hiding behind the motivation of privacy “.

Zorino, in fact, has repeatedly stated that he is not required to disclose his qualification. And not even the farewell of his deputy, Nicola Vazzoler, partly caused by the lack of transparency on the mayor’s degree, has managed to make him change his mind. Deputy Mayor who, for now, contrary to what was announced, has not yet been replaced. «We asked a simple question – Contin closes – we expected a simple answer. We believe that among the tasks of an opposition group there is also the search for the truth and the control of those who are in the majority. It does not seem correct to remain with doubt. I repeat, if the mayor did not want to clarify the issue, others will do it “.
