BOLOGNA – It remains serious, with a reserved prognosis but “it is no longer in immediate danger of life”. We learn this, from health sources, about the 13-month-old baby who fell on Tuesday from the second floor of a house in Soliera, in the Modena area. The child is hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Maggiore hospital in Bologna. A concrete sign of hope emerges even if doctors remain cautious.
Tomorrow morning, at 9 in the Sant’Anna prison in Modena, the hearing will be held to validate the arrest of Monica Santi, the 32-year-old babysitter from Carpi investigated by the prosecutor for attempted murder: according to the investigators, she would have dropped the child. After the incident, the woman closed in silence, adding nothing but a request for information on the child’s health conditions: “How is she?” She asked her lawyer Francesca Neri. For this reason it cannot be excluded that the judge may order an expert opinion on the mental conditions of the arrested person, as well as the defense could ask for it.

According to testimonies, on Tuesday in Soliera it was she who dropped a thirteen-month-old baby from the window on the second floor of the house. At the basis of the arrest there are also the stories of a cleaning lady and a neighbor who lead the carabinieri and prosecutors to hold the 32-year-old responsible for the incident. Santi, once the two women saw the child on the ground at the back of the house, reported the sentence: “The child is now free”.
