After the drone, here is the confessional. New found signed Maurizio Sarri. The new Lazio coach ended up on the cover for a specific request, at least curious, made to the Capitoline company in view of the imminent summer pre-season retreat in Auronzo scheduled from 10 to 28 July.
The Tuscan commander who loves to wear overalls and smoke a cigarette has asked for (and has already obtained) a confessional, where he can consult if necessary with players, managers or staff members in great secrecy and, above all, away from the spotlight. A place in full privacy, within which to resolve any problems of a technical or behavioral nature, but at the same time hold meetings with the aim of keeping its contents secret. It will in effect be an office, housed in the changing rooms of the Zandegiacomo sports field in Auronzo, Lazio’s headquarters in the days of the training camp.
Sarri is not new to requests of this type: in 2015, when he was at the helm of Aurelio De Laurentiis’ Napoli, he demanded in Dimaro’s retirement a super-technological drone with which to resume every tactical training from above. The drone had the aim of filming the movements of the players, to be analyzed later in front of a television screen. Two elements, that of the drone together with that of the confessional, which help to understand more closely the “character” Maurizio Sarri, defined in these days by the Sky journalist Paolo Condò “a mathematician more than a coach, one who takes care of every little detail of his work “. How to blame him: Before becoming an established football manager, both in Italy and abroad (he also coached Chelsea), Sarri was a banker. Work from which he obviously inherited a very useful predisposition to precision.
Sarri will inevitably be the most awaited in Auronzo where Lazio, without the national teams involved in the European championships starting from its undisputed leader Ciro Immobile, will land on 10 July, one day earlier than the initial plans. And here too there is the hand of the new coach who compared to his predecessor Simone Inzaghi (who in the meantime ended up at Inter) asked to extend his stay in the shadow of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo from 14 to 18 days with the aim of to shape a group that is completely new to him. A group that will soon have to learn new working methods, some of which are absolutely innovative for Italian football. To do this, in addition to the rooms of the Auronzo hotel, the green fields of Zandegiacomo, the lakeside paths and the Pala Tre Cime, it will also have a confessional.
