TREVISO. A three-year-long legal battle has gone through every administrative and legal bureau imaginable. It is the one that the Municipality of Treviso is fighting against a woman from Vibo Valencia, owner of a transport company located in the same municipality and the recipient of a string of reports for penalties to the highway code. There are dozens of practices, just think that the entire amount due to the municipal administration, or rather to the local police coffers, amounts to over 17,000 euros.
The Municipality turned to the Treviso court when it began to register that there was no intention of paying the fines from Calabria. Then if also addressed to the revenue agency to be able to collect at least part of the penalties split, it seems, from speed cameras a service along the ring road that would have photographed the company’s vehicles over and over again at a speed higher than allowed. All useless despite the constant reminders and requests for payment.
Eventually, about a year ago, the practice that had become a binder seemed to have reached its definitive turning point. After the start of an executive procedure: the woman has in fact made herself available to pay 17 installments to the Municipality of Treviso to settle her accounts by June 2021.
All is well except that the promise, made official in front of the judge, has never become reality and despite the repeated reminders the Municipality has found itself once again hunting for money.
This time, however, Ca ‘Sugana has decided to use the hard way and has instructed the execution and protest notifications office of the court of Vibo Valentia to start the procedures for the attachment of movable and immovable property in the name of the woman.
If he did not even succeed in this boarding, the administration may have to include the 17 thousand euros among the “difficult to collect” loans which unfortunately represent a millionaire cauldron in the budget of the Municipality of Treviso, as well as of other administrations.
Suffice it to say that only in 2020, for various reasons, the Treviso people left a “nail” worth about 2.9 million euros under the heading “fines”. A hole caused by about 11,000 reports collected over the past year by the local police and never paid. A big shortfall, which was added to the already heavy reduction in revenues linked to Covid and which for the Municipality amounts to between 9 and 10 million euros less.
Thus, after having waited in vain, having made a balance sheet in mid-March, the Municipality gave the green light to Maggioli (the company that deals with the collection), to send 7,868 payment notices, equal to the number of motorists to whom 11 am. thousand penalties. “Good-natured” invitations, which the administration made before moving on to the hard way, or by opening the collection roles now under study.
