It was a brief and heartfelt ceremony that drew over a hundred people to the Piazza di Città, the last farewell to Aldo Gandolfi, 86, held in civil form, in front of the Town Hall on Thursday 23.

«It is difficult to remember everything Aldo did – said the mayor Stefano Sertoli -. More than thirty years in Olivetti, a splendid professional career, a great commitment also in training, confrontation and dialogue, values that he carried forward at the same time and, above all, subsequently, in his political activity that saw him councilor and regional councilor , city councilor and deputy. Aldo had a primary role in a party that was very important, the Republican one, but the real one, of Spadolini and Visentini, a party that has also played a fundamental role in our city, in our territory and in Olivetti, and he has always been a living expression of whose values of democracy, comparison and study, always also aimed at the new generations ».

Gratitude to Gandolfi also expressed Liliane Barda, councilor of the Democratic Forum of Canavese: “Aldo was our president for 11 years and has given a lot to this association, with generosity, inventiveness, innovation, always looking for the highest quality in the activities that we carried out, with meticulous work and attention to detail ». “This meticulousness of his – added Barda – sometimes revealed a slightly authoritarian trait of his character, which was compensated, however, by the authority of his culture, his experience, his knowledge and his rigor in the way of working. . We have always followed him as if he were a teacher, we have helped him to develop this association which, in its 11 years of life, has organized over 120 meetings of great quality and importance ».

Ivrea is the city where I grew up and where I return at least once a year, but it is above all the place where my father had chosen to live his whole life, after moving there to work at Olivetti. The presence, today, of so many of his friends and collaborators makes me perceive the beauty of this profound sense of belonging that bound him to his community ». Luca Spitale, secretary of the Ivrea and Banchette section of the Democratic Party, and Emilio Torri, the friend of a lifetime, also addressed Gandolfi a last farewell.
