MediCinema Italia Onlus and the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCCS for the fifth consecutive year are partners of the Rome Film Festival hosting two films from the official program of the sixteenth edition.

For the 2021 edition of the Festival, in compliance with the health protocols envisaged to deal with the Covid-19 emergency, the cinema room dedicated to inpatients located on the eighth floor of the Polyclinic will be reopened, who will be able to attend the screening of specially selected cinematographic works .

The partnership with the Rome Film Fest confirms the importance of using quality cinema as an integral tool for treatment and rehabilitation in suffering and frailty.

The Artistic Director of the Rome Film Fest, Antonio Monda, said: “The Gemelli Hospital, with the MediCinema Room, has been one of the usual venues of the Festival for years: an original example that brings relief through cinema to people hospitalized in hospitals. We are happy to have confirmed this part of our program by managing to show some important titles of the Festival ».

“The important alliance with the Rome Film Fest is confirmed and consolidated, which characterizes the commitment to enhance the value of cinema in healthcare settings. This edition is even more filled with meaning for all patients and their families, who will be able to return to the cinema in the hospital, in safety and renewed sociability. The Covid 19 pandemic has long deprived all of us of the relief that cinema gives and that in the hospital plays an important role in the care and psychological support of the patient ”, says Fulvia Salvi, President of MediCinema Italia Onlus.

«We are pleased to continue the fruitful collaboration with the Rome Film Festival – says the Director General of the University Hospital Foundation Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, Professor Marco Elefanti -. Gemelli patients will thus have the opportunity to participate in one of the most significant cultural events in the capital even in a delicate phase of their life. This combination confirms the originality of the choice to create a real cinema in the hospital. Alongside entertainment, due to the vocation for research of a university polyclinic like Gemelli, on this occasion I would also like to recall the scientific activity that is conducted by our simple Clinical Psychology Operative Unit through the program of screenings that continue throughout the year. ‘year. Returning to the cinema inside our Polyclinic is also a sign of a return to post-pandemic normality ».
