The fire brigade unions against the motion of the Valley Council on the single rescue center

by admin

Conapo and federal unions write to the president of the Region

The firefighters’ unions do not like the motion approved in recent days by the regional council on collaboration between the emergency services of the single rescue center in the Aosta Valley.

The promoters presented the motion as an initiative aimed at making the management of relief interventions more efficient. The text commits the regional government to “ensure that the firefighters ensure the physical presence of their operators at the single rescue center”.

However, in a communication sent to the president of the Lavevaz Region – reported by the Dire agency – the autonomous trade union Conapo VdA and the confederal Fp Cgil, Cisl Fp and Uil Fpl express all their opposition to the commitments voted by the Valle Council.

The unions “categorically shy away from the idea that firefighters engage in behavior contrary to the rules, procedures in place and banal reasoning” and invite regional councilors to “verify the correctness of what is stated: check which body does not share of intervention in rapid time! “. Conapo, Fp Cgil, Cisl Fp and Uil Fpl propose two examples “by way of example” in which the firefighters “were made aware of the facts with a significant delay: about an hour to inform the firefighters for research in the woods of Introd of a minor who reported an illness of his companion, which was later fatal; about 45 minutes to inform the fire brigade of a failed return to Ayas of a hiker found dead the next day ». Yet, the trade unions point out, “as required by national and regional laws”, the “responsibility for the search and rescue of missing persons lies with the Aosta Fire Brigade Corps”.

According to the unions, “the objectives discussed and hoped for” with the motion are “achievable already now: it would be sufficient for each body to know and respect the competences, rules and procedures governing rescue”.

Already in the courtroom the motion on the Cus was controversial. All the council groups had signed it except the Progressive Civic Project which did not participate in the vote. The Unionist Councilor for Agriculture did the same, while his colleague Guichardaz of the PCP chose to abstain.
