ALPAGO. “The possible use of the former middle school of Spert by the University of Padua is an extremely important step in the enhancement of our territory, of the whole Alpago and of the entire province of Belluno”.

Theater of the meeting is the former middle school of Spert, built in the 1960s and renovated in recent years thanks to a series of funding obtained from the then municipal administration of Farra d’Alpago (380,000 euros in total), with the purpose of dedicating the structure to conferences and retreats for athletes involved in sports competitions in Cansiglio. The structure, now renovated from a technological and energy point of view, with 5 classrooms for 30 students on two floors and a lecture hall for about seventy people, could become an extension of the University of Padua for the conduct of intensive courses. weeklies relating to various university disciplines, for the training of agronomists and forestry, for small conferences “but also as a summer school and home to summer recovery courses”, underlined Sambo together with his colleagues Vincenzo D’Agostino and Laura Secco, present yesterday morning at the inspection.

The Spert school is located in the center of a territory such as the Alpago basin, a “gymnasium” and laboratory of important topics, starting from sport, but also central to the agricultural field, livestock farming, dairies, mountain environment, climate, geology and the study of water, to name a few.

“The Alpago is the mirror of the entire mountain province, it is an opportunity that goes beyond naturalistic themes and that can also involve other aspects of living in the mountains”, said the director of Gal Prealpi, Matteo d’Aguanno, referring on the cross-border horizon and the Alpine macro-regional strategy (Eusalp).

The study activities would also involve the tourism sector in cascade, as underlined by the president of the Alpago Cansiglio tourism consortium, Cristiano Gaggion, who ensured the consortium’s support and the services necessary to support the project also from the point of view of accommodation.
