The fire, due to electrical causes, broke out in the night while the 50-year-old was sleeping. The damage was enormous

CODROIPO. It was the flames that woke her up in the middle of the night. A violent fire destroyed the home of a fifty-year-old codroipese. It was the woman, Monica Maccan, who lives alone, who called for help. The firefighters intervened with four teams and worked several hours to secure the terraced house in via Oreste Rosso, which was subsequently declared uninhabitable due to structural damage.

Due to the high flames, which enveloped a large part of the ground floor and the first floor, the separation floor was completely destroyed. The woman, left homeless, will be hosted in her parents’ home. It happened on the night between Thursday and Friday.

It was just after 3. The 50-year-old, who was sleeping on the first floor, was awakened by the crackle of the flames. In a few minutes he called for help. Volunteer firefighters from Codroipo rushed to the scene together with colleagues from the provincial command of Udine and Latisana.

On the spot, as a precaution, the 118 health workers also intervened but it was not necessary to admit the woman to the hospital. The furniture was completely burned. The flames and smoke caused extensive damage throughout the house. According to an initial reconstruction carried out, the flames would have started from the ground floor, probably from the kitchen. The causes are still under investigation but the hypothesis is that the fire may have broken out due to electrical causes.
