The CDC Weekly issued a report on August 27. As of August 15, there have been two confirmed cases of anthrax in Binzhou, Shandong Province, a 14-year-old student and a 35-year-old man engaged in slaughter work.

According to the report, on July 28, the student suddenly developed fever, fatigue, retching, diarrhea, convulsions and other symptoms and was sent to the Liumiao Village Clinic that night for medical treatment. The infusion was sent again on July 30.

On July 31, the student developed sudden unconsciousness, tetanus, and stiff neck during the infusion, and was transferred to Binzhou Medical University Hospital for treatment.

He died on August 6. Experts preliminarily judged that the cause of death was intestinal anthrax or meningeal anthrax caused by sepsis.

On August 8 (July 25), a man who slaughtered a sick cow at the home of a deceased student was determined to be a suspected case and was later diagnosed with skin anthrax.

Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by Bacillus anthracis, among which pulmonary anthracnose is the most serious, with a fatality rate of 85%. After humans are infected with anthrax, symptoms such as colds and fevers appear, followed by breathing difficulties, and even death due to respiratory failure.

Another type of skin anthrax is the most common, and if it cannot be treated in time, the mortality rate is about 24%.

In early August, a patient was found in Beijing, infected with the “pulmonary anthracnose” common to humans and animals. The patient came from Weichang Manchu and Mongolian Autonomous County in Chengde City, Hebei Province. Four days after the onset of illness, he was transferred to Beijing for treatment and was treated in isolation.

The Health Commission of Shanxi Province reported on August 15 that villagers in Baoxian Village, Wenshui County, Shanxi Province, have recently experienced papules on their limbs, which then turned into blisters, ulcerated, crusted and blackened, and similar symptoms such as edema and lymphoma were suspected. Infection of skin anthrax.

At that time, 9 people had been found to have the above-mentioned similar symptoms, 4 people were treated in Taiyuan, 2 of them have been discharged from the hospital, and there are still 5 patients in the village. It is reported that the patients are all engaged in cattle breeding, slaughter and sales.

Earlier, cases of anthrax were also found in Liaoning and Ningxia.
