After the CCP announced that it would evacuate its citizens from Ukraine, a video of “boarding and returning home” went viral on the Chinese Internet. But according to the CCP media Xinhua News Agency’s own report, the evacuation plan is still in the “registration” stage.

According to the Lu media “Sichuan Observer”, after the CCP’s embassy in Ukraine announced on the 25th that it would “arrange charter flights to evacuate overseas Chinese”, a large number of videos were immediately posted on the Chinese Internet. Pick me up”, expressing that he “will never go to Ukraine again”.

Most of the Chinese netizens who filmed these videos claimed that they were going to Ukraine for business or tourism, and the business content was varied, including selling fruit, steel, and natural gas. However, these videos were later confirmed to be fake.

On the same day, Xinhua News Agency, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China, quoted a notice on the website of the embassy in Ukraine as saying that the embassy “prepared” to charter flights to return Chinese citizens in Ukraine in batches, requiring Chinese citizens who intend to take the flight to fill in the form and register. The notice means that the earliest charter flight for the evacuation of overseas Chinese will also wait until the early morning of February 28 (if there is one).

The notice did not specify whether Chinese citizens who failed to register before the deadline would have the opportunity to take charter flights for evacuation in the future.

Xinhua News Agency reported that Chinese students in Ukraine are busy registering, waiting for further notice from the embassy, and preparing living materials to “guarantee not to go out for a period of time.”

Before the Chinese embassy announced the plan to evacuate overseas Chinese, some Chinese media reported that the war was raging in Ukraine, and local Chinese students were in great panic. The report also quoted previous official data that the number of Chinese students in Ukraine reached tens of thousands.

The Chinese embassy later claimed that there were only 6,000 Chinese citizens in Ukraine, including students, businessmen and tourists. The official also said that Chinese citizens in Ukraine are basically “emotionally stable”.

At that time, a reporter from Radio Free Asia called the CCP embassy and consulate for help in the name of a Chinese businessman in Ukraine. The embassy and consulate staff refused to help, claiming that there were no relevant arrangements at that time, and the reporter was asked to wait for further notice. When the reporter asked what to do if help was needed, the CCP official immediately hung up the phone.
