It is the result of the injustices to which the African continent is subjected, as reiterated in the articles by Zeit and Al Jazeera in the same issue: from vaccines (“12 percent of the 1.3 billion Africans have completed their cycle”) to curtailment humanitarian aid (“in the Horn of Africa 14 million people risk being hit by famine”), the lack of investment in the renewable energy sector “despite having 39 per cent of the world‘s potential”.

China’s propaganda goes through TikTok
◆ I found Ezra Klein’s reflection on Internazionale 1463 forcibly anti-Chinese and pro-American. I understand the fear related to the negative influence that the Chinese government could exert on those who use TikTok, but it does not seem to me that in the recent past Facebook has made so many scruples in “making available” user data for propaganda or electoral purposes.

◆ The very strong psychophysical stress caused by lack of sleep, described in the cover article of Internazionale 1464, could be the metaphor of a society in which one lives as a sleepwalker. Disconnection from decision-making processes could be applied as the main dynamic of low-awareness societies. In defense of the “sleepwalkers”, in very complex and globalized societies such as contemporary ones, it could be said that the illusion of being able to make a choice remains what it is, a mere illusion.
