On November 1, the Jinxiu Tunnel, a major and difficult control project of the Cheng (capital)-Zigong (Gong) high-speed railway,The start of excavation in Chengdu, Sichuan, marked the first time that my country’s largest-diameter earth pressure balance shield machine “Jinxiu” with completely independent intellectual property rights has been put into use in the construction of high-speed railways.It is understood that the Chengzi High-speed Railway Jinxiu Tunnel is 3655 meters long, and the shield tunnel is 2,620 meters long. The tunnel geology is dominated by weakly weathered mudstone. It passes through municipal roads, rail transit lines, existing railways and urban high-rise buildings. The maximum burial depth is 60. The tunnel is a single-hole double-track tunnel, and there is currently no suitable-sized EPB shield machine in China. The “Splendid” large-diameter shield machine was tailor-made for this project.
“Jinxiu” has a total length of 135 meters and an excavation diameter of 12.79 meters (Equivalent to 4 stories high), with a total weight of 3000 tons and an installed power of 7500 kilowatts, The process of shield advancement, excavation, and assembling of segments can be automated, with low labor intensity, and it is estimated that it can excavate 9 meters per day.

The Chengdu-Zihai high-speed railway is 176 kilometers long and is the first high-speed railway in Sichuan with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It has stations in Chengdu East, Chengdu Tianfu, Tianfu Airport, Ziyang West, Qiuxi, Weiyuan, and Zigong. By then, taking the high-speed rail from Chengdu, you will be able to reach Zigong directly at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
