The newborn ended up on the tracks in Pavia died

His pram had been hitched to a passing train

(ANSA) – MILAN, FEBRUARY 18 – The newborn who was hospitalized since February 2 in very serious conditions, after falling on the tracks of the railway station of the capital, died of the Neonatal Pathology of the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia. The attempts of the Pediatric doctors to save him were unfortunately useless: the injuries sustained in the accident were too serious, including a head injury, several bruises and a fractured limb.

The body of the child, who yesterday turned one month old, was transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the University of Pavia where an autopsy will be performed. The prosecutor has opened an investigation to shed light on the fact.

The baby was in a pram. Her 44-year-old father had accompanied him to the hospital for a follow-up visit two weeks after her birth. While his father was on the phone, a freight train passed by, departing from Milan and headed for Genoa. It has yet to be determined whether the wheelchair was coupled to a wagon or whether the movement of air was decisive. The baby was thrown from the pram and ended up on the tracks. The train did not hit him, but in the fall the child sustained injuries that proved fatal.

The father is under investigation for manslaughter and neglect of a minor, but investigations are underway by the railway police to establish the speed of the freight train when it passes through the Pavia station. (HANDLE).
