GAIARINE. The nightmare of serial thefts in homes in part of the Coneglianese area returns. Between Tuesday and Wednesday at least four houses were burglarized in Gaiarine and Mareno di Piave. But other thefts could only be discovered when the owners return from vacation: in fact, the criminals have also struck in residences where the inhabitants are currently on vacation. In one case it was relatives who noticed it the following morning.
The mayor of the town on the banks of the Livenza, Diego Zanchetta, launches an appeal: “Report and make markslations to the police, and subscribe to the control of the neighborhood. ” Three houses were raided in Gaiarine on Tuesday. The thieves broke open doors and windows with crowbars, while there was no one in the house.
“The biggest pain is not so much money”, says SP, one of the victims of the thefts, the criminals have devastated the house of his sister, who lives in Via Salvatoreizza, just outside the center of Gaiarine. They also stole their deceased mother’s ring. “It is rather the emotional value, as the only thing left of the mother that was faith, hurts even more”, explains the woman bitterly.
The Gaiarinese administration, after what happened, decided to activate evening patrols with the brigade, in collaboration with the local police command of the Sinistra Piave.
“We are worried because the harvests are now starting and in recent years there were thefts just during the harvest period – says Mayor Zanchetta – I invite fellow citizens to report anything that may be useful to the police. In bad luck, in the latter days there were about ten requests to join the neighborhood control. As an administration, with the associated police service with Vazzola and Cimadolmo, we have decided to carry out evening shifts with the agents ».
On Wednesday, however, the thieves returned to Mareno, where there had been shots in recent days. They entered an apartment in the area of the church square. Once they climbed over the hedge, they were not afraid of the dog that was inside the garden.
“They destroyed my apartment, turned everything upside down,” explains the resident, a social health worker, who when she returned to her apartment found scattered objects and opened all the wardrobes and drawers. The neighborhood control groups, coordinated by the Municipality, are also active in Mareno. During the week the usual unknowns, perhaps the same ones, had already raided the residential area of Via Del Bersagliere, a short distance away.Diego Bortolotto
