The Economist calls Mario Draghi “Demolition man”, new interpreter of the scrapping: with his arrival, the prime minister has led to an upheaval of the already not placid life of the Italian parties. The Five-Star Movement breaks up, the Democratic Party has had to find a new leader quickly and the League remains formally united but with an insurmountable ambiguity, which is seen above all, irony of the utmost, on the European scene. If the anti-euro rhetoric is partially shelved (after all even Marine Le Pen, the French twin of the League, says that Europe “protects”, like any Macron), alliances and sharing of views are not at all. Where the pragmatic wing of the League suggests a popular vocation understood as belonging to the largest European family, that of the PPE, the rest of the party, and in particular its leader Matteo Salvini, continues to reiterate its closeness to the parties they consider, when okay, Europe is an ATM, a useful tool to support its economies, but otherwise a den of retrograde liberals who make the EU a new USSR.
