China-Europe Freight Trains Exceed 1,000 Mark Through Middle Channel

The number of China-Europe freight trains passing through the middle channel this year has exceeded 1,000, reaching this milestone eight days earlier than last year. According to China Central Television News, a China-Europe train carrying 55 TEUs departed from the Erenhot Railway Freight Yard on Sunday (April 21), marking the 1,000th train to enter and exit through the Erenhot Railway Port in Inner Mongolia this year.

The cargo categories carried in the China-Europe freight trains have seen an increase in high value-added and high-tech commodities such as automobiles, computers, and robots, accounting for over 40% of the goods transported. The Erenhot Railway Port has also seen a boost in exports of domestically produced cars, with 60 trains transporting these vehicles, making up 12.0% of exported goods – the best level in history for the same period.

So far, a total of 1,001 trains have passed through the Erenhot Railway Port in the middle channel of China-Europe trains this year, carrying 113,000 TEUs of goods. This marks a year-on-year increase of 7.8% and 9.2% respectively, setting a record high for the same period in history. The trains have shown steady growth and are playing a crucial role in strengthening trade relations between China and Europe.
