The people of the no Green Pass are back in the streets, peaceful demonstrations throughout Italy

Via the green pass and via the obligation of the vaccine for those categories of workers for which it is foreseen: from Trieste to Rome the people no pass and no vax are back in the streets against the choices of the government. Dozens of demonstrations with thousands of people that took place this time without incidents, as instead happened two weeks ago in the center of the capital and last October 18 in Trieste on the occasion of the eviction at the port entrance.

Protests that do not, however, change the government’s line: the situation has not changed compared to October 15 when the obligation for the workplace was introduced and therefore the pass is not in question, underline sources of the executive, reiterating that only when 90% of those over 12 vaccinated will be reached and it will be possible to start thinking about the tool. Not only. The data of the last few days, it is the reasoning that is made, have shown slight signs of an increase in the virus curve, with an incidence of cases that has returned to rise in various regions; therefore we need the utmost attention to avoid what is already happening in other countries, starting with Great Britain, from happening.

In any case, thousands of people descended on the square, 8 thousand Milano and 5 thousand a Torino, hundreds to Rome, Vicenza, Naples, Trento and in dozens of other cities, between slogans and insults against the Prime Minister Mario Draghi and the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese, defined as’ buffoons’, and signs in which ‘genicì vaccines are compared to blasphemies and the pass is equivalent to slavery .

No Green Pass, the event at the Circus Maximus. Montesano: “In Trieste you use too strong manners”

Leading one of the two sit-ins at the Circus Maximus in Rome was the actor Enrico Montesano. “Vaccinated or unvaccinated we are all the same, enough with these divisions”, he said, indicating the way to go for the future: “to create a new force that represents us”. The actor then returned to the eviction of the dockers in Trieste. “Too strong manners have been used, but the responsibility lies with those who issue the orders.”

In the Friulian capital, the epicenter of the protest in recent days, the meeting between the Coordinamento 15 October took place, the movement against the green pass led by the former leader of the port Stefano Puzzer, and the Minister of Agricultural Policies Stefano Patuanelli. A meeting that lasted half an hour in which the demonstrators put three requests to the government on the table: abrogation of the green pass and the vaccination obligation currently envisaged only for health professionals, the commitment that the police forces refrain from any violence against those who peacefully manifested his formal apologies to the city of Trieste and to all the demonstrators for the clearing of the gate to the port. “The protests will continue in Trieste and throughout Italy, peacefully, until the government accepts the requests made”, the Committee puts pen to paper in a note. “We will never give up, our ultimate goal is to remove the green pass and the vaccination obligation” he repeats Puzzer even though he knows very well that the government has already said no.

“No Green Pass” in two squares in Naples: “We are with Trieste”

What if the minister Patuanelli limited himself to referring to having made the only commitment to report to the Council of Ministers on Tuesday and to have agreed “on the importance of keeping any type of demonstration away from any type of violence”, the Undersecretary of Health Andrea Costa was much more direct: “I do not think the government has room to consider” both the abolition of the pass and the obligation to vaccinate. Indeed, he adds, “there is the will to continue on this path also because the data, fortunately, indicate that in our country the path traced by the government up to now has brought good results”.

So what will happen after Tuesday? For now, no other initiatives are announced but we already know what the new showcase could be chosen by the no vax, no pass and all those who continue to inveigh against the alleged ‘health dictatorship’: the G20 scheduled in Rome on 30 and 31 October.

The summit of the heads of state and government represents a world stage to make one’s voice heard and for this reason it cannot be excluded that Rome becomes the crossroads of all those movements and groups that aim to gain visibility. Thousands of people who could pour into the capital next Saturday, this is the fear of the security apparatuses, and among which extremist movements even ideologically at the antipodes could infiltrate – from those of the extreme right to anarcho-insurrectionist bands – ready to exploit the square and to cause accidents. Reason why Rome, the city center and the EUR district where the summit will be held in particular, will be armored, with thousands of agents on the street to ensure safety. And any parade or demonstration in the city center will be prohibited.
