“You are not the future, you are the present. We are evolving and we must move forward, you must do it for your future and that of your children. I wish you to make a noise, make yourself heard! ». Pope Francis said this at the private meeting that was held in the Sala Clementina with a delegation of 50 young people from Earth Day, the representatives of Italy at the Cop Giovani in Milan and the Minister of Ecological Transition, Roberto Cingolani.

Earth Day Italia reports it. «We are at the beginning of Youth4Climate, the initiative that will see hundreds of young people from all over the world come together in Milan to study the future of the planet and the climate. And today, the weekend before, we meet with the Pope to bless some of these young people. May it be a good omen and above all that it bears the testimony of the awareness that the Encyclical Laudato Si ‘has given us, in the works that we will do starting this coming week. Good job everyone”. Thus the Minister of Ecological Transition, Roberto Cingolani, on the sidelines of the meeting in the Vatican.

On 28 September, Milan will host the “Youth4Climate“: Two young people from each of the 197 member countries of the UNFFCC (the United Nations Convention on Climate Change) will be involved in working groups and debates, a preparatory stage at COP 26 in Glasgow, in which young people will be the protagonists and, for the first time, they will have the opportunity to officially contribute to the United Nations climate negotiations.
