The positives in the clubs are increasing. Football goes into “hibernation”

by admin

The pandemic hits football and sport again. The increase in positive cases and the government’s anti-contagion provisions condition the performance of the activity.

The minor leagues and the youth leagues were the first to pay for the restrictions. Following the example of Veneto and Lombardy, the Liguria Football Federation has decided to extend the Christmas break up to one month. Having gone on vacation after the round on Saturday 19, the last one before Christmas, the Promotion, First and Second category championships, as well as all the youth activities, should have resumed their journey on Sunday 9 January. Instead, what will be a real “lethargy” will last until the weekend of 22 and 23 January, barring complications.

At the moment it remains confirmed within the established terms, at least at the regulation level, for the D series and the Excellence, with the next rounds still on the bill for 9 January and preceded, for the D series, by some recoveries (including Bra -Sanremese and Imperia-Casale) scheduled for Wednesday 5.

The dynamics, however, are constantly evolving and, beyond what is established by the FIGC and the Amateur League, everything will be subject to the number of infected in the various clubs. Imperia itself (two infected and all the staff and staff subjected to tampons) suspended the activity which, barring further aggravations, should resume today.

«In these situations – said the president of the Imperia Fabrizio Gramondo – it would be advisable to think about a postponement of all the championships, shortening the Easter holidays or not observing the subsequent stoppages in April. On the other hand, it has also been seen that in winter the weather repercussions are also serious, with many empty trips due to matches postponed due to snow or storms. It would be advisable to think for the next few years, for the minor championships, a long winter break, as in Germany and Northern Europe ».

Further complicating the path are the new government provisions regarding the vaccination of players. From 10 January only vaccinated players will be able to take the field. An example is the case of Vladimir Mikhaylovskiy, the Russian defender of the Sanremese and the only white-blue athlete to have so far refused to undergo vaccination.

“After several days of reflection – says the club – the player has decided to follow the line of the blue-and-white club which, even before the choice of the government that from January 10 will impose the vaccination obligation on all athletes, had already expressly requested vaccination to its members. The Russian defender will therefore act as soon as possible ». –
