The regions that have vaccinated the most: Molise in the lead, Sicily in the rear

by admin

In the lead is the Molise, in the last positions the Sardinia: is the ranking of the doses administered each 100 thousand inhabitants in which the two Regions, although united by the return on Monday in the white band, have very different performances. Almost 60,000 anti-Covid vaccines have been inoculated on one hundred thousand Molisans, less than 52,000 registered on the island. Also inFriuli Venezia Giulia from 31 May all restrictions will fall (with the exception of the spacing and use of the mask): the Region is above the national average with almost 57 thousand doses. Last in this ranking is Sicily, 11 thousand doses away from Molise.

In Molise “quality work”

The administration of doses per 100 thousand inhabitants is one of the measures with which to judge the vaccination campaign of the Regions which started 150 days ago. Not the only one, however. Because the way in which the doses have been distributed by population groups also counts. In this respect, Molise was “promoted” by the Covid emergency commissioner Francesco Paolo Figliuolo during his visit: “I am very satisfied with the work that is being done in Molise – said the general – and not only because in this region the assigned target has been reached and maintained, which is about 2,500 vaccinations per day with a potential of over three thousand, but above all because quality work is done. We are on average over 80 ». In Molise 91.2% of the over 80s received a dose, 79% completed the vaccination cycle.

Sicily: -11 thousand (every 100 thousand inhabitants) compared to Molise

The Sicilian Region was the first to give the green light for inoculations to maturing students, who left on May 26 on a voluntary basis and without reservation. But it is also the only one where there are red zones (four municipalities in the province of Palermo in lockdown until June 3). The island is in the last positions for vaccination coverage of the priority ranges indicated by the emergency commissioner: the percentage of over 80s with a complete cycle is 66.2% (a further 11.9% with only the first dose), that of age group 70-79 years with a complete cycle is equal to 32.3% (to which an additional 34% must be added with only the first dose). Finally, the percentage of the population 60-69 years with a complete cycle is equal to 24.4% to which an additional 30.3% must be added with only the first dose.

Sicily has administered 2.4 million doses. But looking at the number of vaccines per 100,000 inhabitants, the region is lagging behind: 48,874 doses: -5,700 compared to the national average and -11,000 compared to Molise. “We are doing everything that was possible to do. Vaccines in Sicily must be administered with sobriety because they do not arrive in quantity ”is the explanation of the regional president Nello Musumeci. “It is also true that some factors have contributed to creating different situations, first of all the distrust of vaccines,” he added.

Liguria in third position

On the other hand, Liguria is keeping pace with Molise on vaccinations per 100 thousand inhabitants, in the second week with data from the white zone and destined to move to the range without restrictions from 7 June. The Region is the only one, together with Molise, to touch 60 thousand doses and is followed by Abruzzo at an altitude of 57 thousand.
