A few hours after the news leaked by Jordan’s secret services – via Washington Post and Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Joby Warrick – about a thwarted coup, the Saudi royal family rushed to phone King Abdallah to lend their support “to all the measures taken by the monarchy to preserve security and stability in Jordan ”. Riyadh made sure that these statements were taken up and reported because from the very beginning of this story interpreted by most as a royal feuilleton of the classic ones – preferences, leaping inheritance, daughter-in-law fighting – some experts whispered: watch out for the Saudis . Pay particular attention to the prince Mohammed bin Salman, the most unscrupulous leader in asserting his spheres of influence and playing with the dependencies of others.
