There are also 150 minors on the NGO ship. The quarantine ship Aurelia is also on its way
The Sea Eye 4 ship with 414 migrants on board, including 150 minors, rescued in recent days in the Mediterranean is about to dock in the port of Pozzallo. The NGO ship obtained authorization to disembark in a safe harbor last Wednesday, following the evacuation for health reasons of a young man with a patrol boat of the Harbor Master’s Office off the coast of Palermo.
The migrants, after having been subjected to medical checks and swabs, will be transferred for a period of quarantine on board the Aurelia ship, which already reached the port of Pozzallo yesterday. Unaccompanied minors will instead be transferred to a reception center in the province of Ragusa.
The ship, before landing in Ragusa, had to go around Sicily: initially it had in fact headed towards the port of Palermo and then headed east along the Ionian coast after having obtained from the Italian authorities a safe port that had been instead denied by those Maltese.
