The skyscraper burned in Milan and the mockery of the bureaucracy: the condominiums must pay the Imu second home

by admin

That of the skyscraper burned in Milan it is turning into a bureaucratic paradox, as if the fact that 80 families, since last August 29, they have lost their homes with everything they contained, probably due to a fire caused by a cigarette which the Milan prosecutor is still investigating.

The condominiums have just received a bitter clarification on theImu by the Municipality of Milan: also in 2021 they will have to pay it. But there is more: since the fire does not make the apartments viable as a first home, the rate of the second home is triggered, discounted by 50% given what happened. The result is paradoxical: families who did not pay Imu because they lived in the house where they were resident, now, after the fire, they have to pay at least in part.

The clarification came from the Municipality of Milan, which explained that «the current IMU legislation establishes a 50% reduction in the tax base for unusable buildings, limited to the period of the year during which the condition exists; this also for the buildings that constituted the main residence of the subject, before the event. The fire, resulting in the unusability of the building, made the requirement of the dwelling envisaged by the law disappear. Therefore, for the year 2021, starting from the date of the event, in the absence of specific state regulatory interventions, the tax is due at a reduced rate of 50% “.

The situation should heal by the 2022: “For the year 2022 it is possible to approve a reduced rate to zero, for the cases that include the event”.

A paradox that leaves condominiums baffled, coordinated by Mirko Berti, who recalls the unsuccessful requests for help, according to his point of view: “We asked to be able to use the apartments intended for social housing for at least a year, until the skyscraper is restored, but the administration municipal told us no because we do not have the income requirements – says Berti – Then we saw the declaration of the junta on the financial support that would have been allocated to help us pay the rent temporarily, but at the moment we have not yet received anything. For now, we only thank the private insurance company that is supporting us, and the banks that have suspended our mortgage ».
