The Standing Committee of the Eighth Municipal People’s Congress held the 84th Directors Meeting

Yesterday afternoon, the Standing Committee of the Eighth Municipal People’s Congress held the 84th Directors’ Meeting. Liu Dongsheng, director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress, presided over the meeting. Deputy directors Zhu Haiping, Wang Maqing, Zhang Yonghong, Zhuo Weiming, and Secretary-General Tang Yunliang attended the meeting. Chen Lizhong, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor, attended the meeting as nonvoting delegates.

The meeting listened to and discussed the report of the municipal government on the construction of a government under the rule of law, and fully affirmed the effectiveness of our city’s implementation of the “Implementation Outline for the Construction of a Government under the Rule of Law (2015-2020)”. Liu Dongsheng pointed out that it is a new institutional arrangement for local governments at or above the county level to report to the party committees and standing committees of the people’s congresses at the same level on the construction of a government under the rule of law in the previous year. With regard to the goal of building a model city for a national rule of law government, it is necessary to further enhance the nation’s rule of law awareness, thoroughly implement Xi Jinping’s rule of law thought, and continuously strengthen the rule of law awareness of governments at all levels, departments and law enforcement personnel. It is necessary to further improve the level of administration according to law, strengthen the standardized operation of power, promote civilized and fair law enforcement, and continue to attach importance to and promote the implementation of local laws and regulations. It is necessary to further improve the effectiveness of the reform of the rule of law, earnestly summarize the comprehensive administrative law enforcement reform, comprehensive inspection once, the Yangtze River Delta integrated comprehensive law enforcement model and other practices and experiences, and create reform results with Jiaxing’s recognition.

The meeting also listened to and discussed the municipal government’s report on the fare (trial) plan for the first phase of the tram project in Jiaxing City, the cultivation and role of social organizations in our city, and the report of the investigation report of the relevant special committee.

The deputy secretary-general and full-time members of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress, the special committees of the Municipal People’s Congress and the heads of the working institutions and offices of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress attended the meeting as non-voting delegates.
