There are ten unpresentable candidates in the municipal elections on 3 and 4 October. Only one to the regional ones of Calabria: it is Mimmo Lucano, former mayor of Riace in the running for the regional council, incandidable as he is convicted.

Four are registered on the administrative lists of Rome. This was reported by the president of the Anti-Mafia commission Nicola Morra. These are subjects that are incompatible with the self-regulation code for candidacies – signed by the parties – and with the Severino law.

Among the unpresentable Romans is Marcello De Vito, from the Forza Italia – Berlusconi list for Michetti. He is charged with an immediate decree of judgment for corruption and acts contrary to official duties. He is president of the Capitoline assembly of the current legislature and former member of the 5-star Movement.

Then there is Viorica Mariuta, from the Social Idea Movement list in support of the candidate for mayor Gianluca Gismondi: against him there is a non-definitive conviction for embezzlement. The third is Antonio Ruggiero, also of the Social Idea Movement, who has a decree of judgment for the use of money, utilities or other goods of illicit origin. Finally Maria Capozza, of Forza Italia – Berlusconi for Michetti: for her the judgment for corruption for acts contrary to official duties.

Gianluca Guarnaccia is among the incandidabili of Cosenza. For the list Coraggio Cosenza supports the candidate for mayor Francesco Caruso. “The candidate in fact – explained Morra – has two indictments for an aggravated crime, it is the aggravating mafia, and for the crime of mafia-type association”. Domenico Barbieri is a candidate in the municipal elections of Siderno with the list We run together, in support of Antonio Cutugno. «If elected – continues Morra – he would be suspended by law. He reported a non-definitive sentence of six months in prison and a fine of 1,032 for the crime of drug cultivation ».

For Carlo Carlo De Gregorio, running to Naples, a first-degree sentence was issued against him for importing, possessing and trading drugs.

In Bologna there is Riccardo Monticelli, guilty of detention for the purpose of drug dealing: «Monticelli is unlawful because he was given an irrevocable sentence of 4 months’ imprisonment and a fine of 1000 euros for the crime of detention for the purpose of drug dealing. It should be noted – continues the president of the Anti-Mafia Commission – that at the time of the presentation of the candidacy the criminal record did not present any references to the ruling ».

A separate position is that of Franco Metta, candidate for mayor in Cerignola. The court would have declared him incandidable because he was already mayor of a municipality dissolved for the mafia. However, Morra specified that the candidate for mayor of Cerignola Franco Metta filed an appeal and the situation could therefore be reversed.

“Unfortunately – concluded Morra – there have been cases in which some unpresentable subjects were then replaced by relatives or relatives, the so-called wooden heads, but on that formally nothing can be done, so it will also be the task of the electoral citizen to do great pay attention to candidates who submit to his examination “.
