The US announced on August 30 that it had ended its withdrawal from Afghanistan and that the US’s 20-year military presence in Afghanistan had ended. On the same day, the Afghan Taliban spokesperson stated that Afghanistan has achieved complete independence.
In response to this, at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (31st), Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated that the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan shows that the US military intervention in other countries and the policy of imposing its own values and social systems on other countries. It is destined to be unworkable and will only end in failure. Afghanistan was able to get rid of foreign military occupation, the Afghan people ushered in a new starting point for national peace and reconstruction, and the history of Afghanistan opened a new page. China always respects the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Afghanistan, adheres to non-interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, and pursues a friendly policy towards all the Afghan people.
Wang Wenbin pointed out that the history and reality of Afghanistan have shown that to achieve peace, stability and economic development in Afghanistan, it is necessary to establish an open and inclusive political structure, pursue a moderate and stable domestic and foreign policies, and thoroughly delineate all terrorist organizations. China will continue to maintain close communication and coordination with all parties in Afghanistan and the international community to provide support and assistance within its capacity for Afghanistan to restore peace, rebuild the economy, combat all terrorist organizations including the “Eastern Iraq Movement”, and integrate into the international community.
