The United States will give another USD 10 million to Ecuador

The Government of the United States and that of Ecuador have maintained a good rapprochement on security cooperation issues.

On April 18, the United States and Ecuadorian governments signed a Intention letter which formalizes the delivery of an additional USD 10 million by USA so that the country strengthens the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking.

This agreement was signed by the chancellor Gabriela Sommerfeld and the chargé d’affaires of the United States Embassy, Lawrence Petroni.

“The contribution is made in follow-up to what was stated at the Ecuador-United States Broad Bilateral Dialogue Meeting, on March 13 and 14, 2024 and is awaiting the notification process to the US Congress,” they said from the Foreign Ministry.

With these resources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairsstates that they will serve to control the production and illicit trafficking of drugs, in addition to continuing to combat transnational organized crime.

According to Ecuavisa, the Government of the United States and that of Ecuador have maintained a good rapprochement on security cooperation issues. In this context, on February 15, 2024, the president Daniel Noboa ratified two maritime and military agreements with that country.
