Former Guantanamo high-security prison inmate Mohamedou Ould Slahi and one of his guards, Steve Wood, meet again in Mauritania after 13 years, recalling a friendship that profoundly changed their lives.

Mohamedou Ould Slahi has been in Guantanamo for 14 years. During his imprisonment he was subjected to torture and isolation, without ever being formally indicted. His memoir, released in Italy with the title 12 years in Guantánamo (Piemme 2015), became an international bestseller and was recently adapted into the film The mauritanian.
