“The US has not complied with even a single point of the agreements,” Maduro complained again about the return of sanctions

Venezuelan President Maduro Accuses US of Not Upholding Agreements

In a recent broadcast, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro expressed his frustration with the United States for failing to uphold agreements that were reached in October 2023. The agreements were aimed at ending the sanctions imposed on Venezuela, but according to Maduro, the US did not follow through on their commitments.

Maduro specifically mentioned license 44, which he claimed was a point of contention in the negotiations. Despite multiple meetings in Qatar and Milan, the US did not lift the economic measures as promised.

“Our head of negotiation, Jorge Rodríguez, said they ‘took a shot in each foot’,” Maduro stated. “The US did not comply with one comma, not one word of the agreement signed in October in Qatar.”

Maduro highlighted the extensive efforts made to reach a resolution, including five meetings in Qatar, two in Milan, and numerous video conferences. He emphasized that the US should have already lifted all illegal sanctions against Venezuela based on the agreements made.

The Venezuelan president expressed disappointment in the outcome of the negotiations, referring to the license as “stillborn.” He criticized the US for making promises and not following through, ultimately causing harm to themselves.

The dispute between Venezuela and the United States continues as Maduro calls for the US to honor the agreements and lift the sanctions imposed on Venezuela. The ongoing tensions between the two countries suggest that a resolution may not be reached in the near future.
