These are the states with the highest stress rates in the United States, according to a recent ranking

Multiple factors such as work hours, credit card debt, divorce rates, and commute times are generating high rates of stress among Americans, according to a recent survey by the American Psychological Association. The study revealed that more than 25% of adults in the United States face high levels of stress that interfere with their daily activities.

A ranking developed by wellness brand Komowa classified the states of the nation according to the stress levels of their residents, highlighting various factors influencing this phenomenon. Contrary to expectations, New York and California did not appear in the top ten states with the highest stress levels.

The study grouped stress indicators into categories like financial, work, health, and family stress, using data from organizations such as the CDC, US Census Bureau, and Bureau of Labor Statistics. New York State stood out for having the longest commute time, while Louisiana had the longest work week.

Tennessee emerged as the state with the most stressed residents in the United States, also showing high rates of depression and reports of poor physical health. Alabama and Oklahoma ranked behind Tennessee, facing similar challenges including long work hours, below-average incomes, and health-related issues.

Other states like Louisiana, Nevada, South Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, West Virginia, and Indiana also made the top 10 list for states with the highest stress levels. These findings point to a variety of contributing factors, from economic challenges to public health concerns, that are impacting the well-being of Americans across the nation.
