They connect to the vote, Chies in front of Garbellotto and Di Gaspero

Fabio Chies and Piero Garbellotto

Poll commissioned by the former mayor: “the man of volleyball” is down by six points. The center-left is more detached

CONEGLIANO. The survey gives led by Fabio Chies, followed at a distance by Piero Garbellotto and, further back, by Francesca Di Gaspero.

About ten days ago, the three lists in support of Chies – Conegliano Full Forward, Forza Conegliano and Forza Italia – commissioned Quaeris to conduct a survey on the satisfaction of the first three candidates for mayor at administrative elections of Conegliano to be held on 3 October.

This is the result: the former mayor Chies stands at 31.9%, Garbellotto (with the three lists Lega, Fratelli d’Italia and Civici) at 25.3%, Di Gaspero (with the Noi per Conegliano coalition) al 15%.

It should be noted immediately that 28% of citizens interviewed by Quaeris researchers declared themselves “undecided”. The outcome did not surprise Chies and his followers: it is instead arousing some concern in the alliance that supports Garbellotto. And some first disappointments in the center left. The survey, however, was carried out when the candidate Di Gaspero had not yet presented herself to the voters, with the exit then taking place in the garden of the castle of Conegliano.

Chies prefers not to comment, he limits himself only to saying that “the real poll is that of 3 October“. Giambruno Panizzutti, former councilor and back on the list with Chies, admits that the outcome does not surprise him because “it is enough to take a walk with Fabio, in the city center, to find out how much and what is the sympathy of the Coneglianesi towards the former mayor” . 6.6 percentage points of difference between Chies and Garbellotto: they are unexpectedly many for the people who recognize themselves in the entrepreneur lent to politics.

Francesca Di Gaspero

His people, especially in the league, knew that the game was not going to be easy. The president of Volley Conegliano is certainly on the crest of the wave, but for purely sporting reasons, no one has yet measured him on a political level. Chies, on the other hand, for some of the citizens came out as a “martyr” from the incident of defenestration. The quotation of the center-left candidate Francesca Di Gaspero is still low. The lists that support it – We Democrats and Design Conegliano “- definitely point to 30% and beyond. The new name and a female candidate could do the rest.

«The survey data are only a starting point – admits Panizzutti – Our coalition is working belly to earth, regardless of this accreditation. It is clear that everything can change between now and October 3. In particular, it will be necessary to see how the great mass of the undecided will break down ”.

When the survey was carried out, only (almost all) the names of the candidates were known in the city. In these days the lists are also revealed which, as we know, make an important contribution to the electoral outcome. By the end of the month Chies, Garbellotto and Di Gaspero will present their respective programs and the debate that will follow will also be decisive for the choice of who will occupy the highest seat in the city. With these assumptions, it is foreseeable that the name of the mayor will not come out of the polls on October 3, but from the subsequent ballot.gio.

If the trend remains that of the poll, the questions are already starting to become intriguing. Would the center-left go back to the vote to choose between Garbellotto and Chies? If instead Di Gaspero managed to get involved, would he find available voters on the other side?
