This is how the 2024 Book Events will be in Medellín

Preparations have begun for the 2024 Book Events, three meetings that will be aligned with the “A common heartbeat” proposal, which will bring together different actions to reflect on everything that unites us as a society.

There will be three moments in different months of the year. The first of them, the Book Days programming, from May 24 to 26, in the Carlos E. Restrepo neighborhood and in the vicinity of the Piloto Public Library, with 54 exhibitors that include bookstores, publishers and invited universities.

In July there will be the 16th edition of the Youth Reading Parade, with a traveling program that will visit different parts of the city, in order to get closer to the everyday spaces of young people. Comics and illustrated products are among this year’s themes, as well as an exhibition with 23 special guests.

While the 18th edition of the Book Festival will be a meeting that can be enjoyed between September 6 and 15. This year, independent authors and writers will be the special guests, who will have the opportunity to captivate new audiences.

To direct this year’s Book Events, journalist Andrés Sarmiento Villamizar, former director of the Cali International Book Fair and the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBO) and current undersecretary of Libraries, Reading and Heritage of Medellin.
