Record-breaking Rainfall Hits Guangdong and Guangxi, Shenzhen Issues Heavy Rain Warning

In the past two days, the rain in Guangdong and Guangxi has been unprecedented, with many places setting new single-day precipitation records for April. The situation has become so severe that Shenzhen recently issued yellow warnings for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in the city.

Netizens have coined the term “the sky is leaking” as the heavy rainfall continues to pour down on the city. Surveillance cameras at Shenzhen Airport captured the intense scene of a thunderstorm approaching, with the rain sweeping across the city with great force, even swallowing up the camera in an instant.

According to the China Weather Official WeChat account, numerous observation stations in Guangdong and Guangxi have reported record-breaking single-day precipitation, with Huaiji, Guangdong, recording 217.1 mm in a day, breaking the local historical record. In Shaoguan, Guangdong, the accumulated precipitation for April has already exceeded the monthly record ahead of schedule.

The Ministry of Water Resources reported that 40 rivers in the Beijiang main stream and tributaries of the Pearl River Basin have experienced floods exceeding warning levels due to the heavy rainfall. There are predictions that the heavy rainfall will continue for the next three days, causing a rise in the main streams of various rivers in the region and potentially leading to severe flooding in the Beijiang River.

The situation is dire, and residents are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
