Entrepreneurs are unable to use the Pos and customers complain about the poor connection: “Now that’s enough, give us the optical fiber”

Tim phones without field and Pos refused payments for lack of cell line. The hoteliers of Arabba, hanging from the thread of a ballerina connection, say enough: a tourist resort with 400 thousand visitors cannot stay on the pole in terms of telecommunications.
Manuel Roncat, hotelier and vice president of Arabba Fodom Turismo, sent a letter of fire to the mayor Leandro Grones, asking him to go and beat his fists with Tim: “It is impossible to make electronic payments through Pos Gprs with Tim users”, is the protest, «used by a large audience of VAT numbers, from restaurants to shelters, passing through hotels, as even the ADSL connection is often slow or absent, many electronic payments are refused due to the lack of ADSL connection bandwidth. After a year of stalemate and closures of accommodation and services, the first weekend of high tourist influx was ruinously impacted by the disservice Tim ».
Yesterday was the eighth day of disruptions, explains Roncat, in fact reachable only on the hotel landline. “Dozens of facilities, including mine, have Pos connected to Tim’s GPRS data connection,” explains Roncat. “The reason? Here the Telecom ADSL in the middle of the season is so clogged and slow that there is not enough bandwidth even to accept payments. Not to mention that we receive constant complaints from guests who complain that we do not respect the minimum standards of decency of the wifi connection offered by the structures ».
“Our neighbors in South Tyrol have adapted and we are standing here watching the train go by,” contends Roncat. “4G is welcome in the San Lucano valley, but a 400,000-strong tourist resort like ours cannot be forced to travel on 7 mega connections, when in Corvara there are 100 megs and guests are satisfied”.
«It’s time to wake up», thunders the vice president of the Aft, «Arabba never complains, pays taxes like the others and never says anything even if he finds himself with just three races of the Dolomitibus. But that’s enough, my request to the mayor is an appeal of last resort: either we adapt or the guests we lose now will never come back. If the Belluno politics wants to see a decline in attendance, continue to do nothing. If, on the other hand, you think that the Belluno area is a valuable tourist destination, this is the first kind of problem to be solved ».
«Covid has put us in difficulty», underlines Manuel Roncat again, «but now it is the political choices that risk burying us completely. We have been talking about broadband for four years, I have attended at least four meetings with fiber optic companies and we are still in this situation. This week, with this disservice Tim, we hit rock bottom. With repercussions also on call forwarding services, because many of our companies are familiar, there is not always someone in the office to answer and therefore mobile phone transfer is used. Never customers, if no one can answer, at some point they throw it down ».
“I have been beating my fists for a while, I am also experiencing this situation, it has been a pain to call from Arabba for eight days,” says the mayor – and hotelier – Leandro Grones. “The mobile network continues to come and go, I have heard with Tim even now, they say that they have the technicians here and that they are intervening but no concrete results can be seen”.
«The basic problem however», Grones remarks, «is the question of fiber: we are on the list, they have contracted out the works, someone came to see but then that’s enough, nothing else. I expected to see the “mole” digging to lay the fiber, but nothing even this year. And with us from October then you can no longer do road works, we only have four months to work, not twelve as in the plains. And on this we must understand in Rome why this question is not resolved. We need fiber and a data highway “
