Turin-Milan motorway closed between Rodissone and Borgo d’Ale for a truck that caught fire last night in the direction of Milan. The investigations by the traffic police of Novara Est are in progress. The fire broke out around 3 and required the intervention of the firefighters of Livorno Ferraris, Vercelli, Santhià and Stura to put out the flames that hit the trailer and the engine of the lorry that transported caissons loaded with iron. The operations ended around 5 this morning but the emergency is not over yet. The operation, in fact, is particularly delicate because the truck is powered by liquefied natural gas and it is necessary to empty the fuel before the truck can be removed.
For this reason, the motorway remains closed between Rondissone and Borgo d’Ale towards Milan and the high-speed line between Turin and Milan is also suspended from 10.30. Trenitalia has not suspended the trains but for about two hours, until the end of the operation, the trains will be diverted on the historic line both towards Milan and towards Turin.
