Emotion in the hamlet for the inauguration after the restoration. Don Fabiano: “The non-resident tiseròti linked to their land”

TISER DI GOSALDO. The bishop knocks and the church of Tiser reopens for worship after the restoration works. Saturday afternoon in the village of the municipality of Gosaldo a significant event took place for the value it has in itself and for what it has for local people, residents and emigrants.

Almost three years after Vaia, in the presence of the bishop Monsignor Renato Marangoni and the mayor Stefano Da Zanche, the interventions of internal and external arrangement of the church dedicated to San Bartolomeo were inaugurated.

Trepidation, anticipation and curiosity were “gathered” in the churchyard, when the bishop, in the presence of the whole community, the Alpine group, the mayor, the archdeacon of Agordo monsignor Cesare Larese and the parish priest of Tiser don Fabiano Del Favero, performed a a simple and effective gesture at the same time: knocking on the door thus asking to enter with the people. Vaia had taken away a quarter of the roof of the religious building and the consequent water infiltrations had damaged the interior walls and works of art.

«Although half the church was not accessible» recalls Don Fabiano «even in the days immediately after Vaia we continued to celebrate mass in the church also as a gesture of hope».

The roof refurbishment works (160 thousand euros) were completed in 2019, so in 2020 the process for those related to the internal restoration began (160 thousand euros, 70% of which came from the CEI funds of 8 per thousand ) which took place between mid-March and the end of June 2021 and were followed by the architect Armando De Min and his collaborators.

«We very much appreciated» says Don Fabiano «that not only the architect De Min was present at the ceremony, but also all the members of his staff, demonstrating that the work done in our church was particularly felt by them too».

The strongest emotions, however, were the “tiseròti” who remained in Tiser and those who over time moved to the plains.

“The link with the native land is present everywhere” underlines Don Fabiano “but in Tiser in a very particular way: the participation of many people originally from here, but who now live in Valbelluna, was yet another confirmation”.

The church has a fourteenth-century layout which makes it the oldest in the Conca Agordina. In the eighteenth century it experienced an extension, then in the 40s of the last century the art of Barberis who painted the cycle in the presbytery and also “The glory of San Bartolomeo” in the central nave.

In 2009 the parish priest of the time, Don Vincenzo Da Ronch, had worked to carry out some works outside. A heritage to be loved as a sign of a territory, as the mayor Da Zanche highlighted in his speech. Bishop Marangoni instead reflected on beauty and invited the community to be amazed by God also by returning to the house where the community gathers: a moment – he said – through which the house itself regains new life and beauty.

“We can define the afternoon of July 24th in Tiser, I knowlenne? – finally asked Don Fabiano – Maybe. Can we define it as familiar and with a marked connotation of precious relationships? This certainly does. Relationships that are identified and grow also through the gift of a church to a community ».
