“In this scene we see Filippo Dobrilla descending into the cave where he carved his work”, says in the video Tommaso Landucci, director of Caveman – The Hidden Giant. āThe most complicated aspect was to convey the idea that he was in absolute solitude in thereā.
The documentary tells of the sculptor and speleologist Filippo Dobrilla, who died in 2019. In particular of his most famous work: a marble colossus that portrays a naked and sleeping giant, located in an almost inaccessible cave in the Apuan Alps, at a depth of 650 meters . Dobrilla worked on it for more than thirty years, alone in the darkness of the cave.
Tommaso Landucci is an Italian director. He has worked with Claudio Giovannesi, Luca Guadagnigno and James Ivory.
