Piero Roullet, 76, a well-known Aosta Valley hotelier and owner of the Bellevue hotel in Cogne, died. He had been ill for some time. Since 1983 he had been involved in the accommodation facility as a partner, starting the complete renovation. Over the years the Bellevue hotel has received important awards, from the highest score in the Gambero Rosso guide to the Michelin star for the Petit Restaurant, through the Spa Trophy award as the best Spa among the Relais & Chateaux in the world and the 2013 Prix Villegiature Awards as best Hotel Spa in Europe.

Born in 1945 in Saint-Christophe to a family of farmers and cattle breeders, Piero Roullet had lived at the foot of the Gran Paradiso since 1983. Graduated as a surveyor in 1963, he had taught construction science and topography at the Manzetti Technical Commercial Institute until 1975, to then preside over the College of Surveyors of the Aosta Valley from 1978 to 1987. He was councilor of Siski (integrated services for skiing) from 1993 to 2005, member of the board of Confidi hoteliers (from 1998 to 2001) and president of the Aosta Valley hoteliers association (from 1998 to 2004). He also founded the Chamber of Commerce of the Aosta Valley, becoming its first president (from 2003 to 2006).

He was also a member of the Valle d’Aosta Unicredit Regional Committee until 2010. In 2008 he was awarded the honor. of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and in 2016 the Valle d’Aosta Region appointed him Chevalier de autonomie.
