More than 6 thousand train connections a day, more than two million seats available a day and more than 600 summer destinations. These are the numbers of the new Trenitalia summer timetable which will start on 13 June. The numbers were illustrated at the press conference by the CEO. Luigi Corradi together with the two division directors Sabrina De Filippis (Regional Passengers) and Paolo Attanasio (Long Distance). “Today we present what historically is the launch of the summer timetable: we want to call it the Trenitalia summer because we want Trenitalia to offer a more important and stronger service this summer to help Italy recover during the holiday period”, Corradi said.
New Frecciarossa at night
In particular, the company points out the new Frecciarossa night Milan-Reggio Calabria, the new Frecciarossa Fast connections between Lombardy and Calabria and the new regional connections to summer destinations “with integrated train, bus, ferry and soft mobility solutions to discover the sea, of the mountains, villages and Italian cities of art “.
Capacity at 50% and anti Covid graphene filters
The company recalls that the trains are equipped with sanitizing dispensers and (on the Arrows) new graphene filters. The maximum capacity of 50% on board of the entire fleet has been confirmed. “We know that the virus is still circulating – said CEO Corradi – and therefore we must still be very careful. Trenitalia works for safety and we will continue to do so this summer, through the maintenance of the spacing and the disinfestation of trains and graphene filters to purify the air. The experience of recent months has shown that the train travels safely ».
For the South 200 summer destinations
Corradi then explained that there will be “Two hundred summer destinations only for the South”, that “170 dedicated services to support the South” have been added and 42 new regional trains have been made available “that will support our offer” for the regions of the South.
“Door to door” services and 4,400 spaces for bicycles
“Over the weekend we offer special packages, even very widespread solutions that help you use the train, even at the weekend” added Corradi, explaining that “a ‘door to door’ service will be offered that will take you from home to the smallest Seaside”. A service that also provides the connection with the train of alternative transport services, with buses, but also the transport of bicycles, including electric bikes on the train with electrical sockets for recharging. “We have 4,400 bike spaces on the train because there is a great demand for this type of service – said Corradi – and we have made agreements for micro mobility for scooters and electric bikes to be found at the station”.
