In a fifth of the Linguistics full marks for one student out of two. The teachers: “Rewarded by extra-curricular interests”
TREVISO. If it is not a record, we are close to it. There is a fifth that will enter the annals of Canova: 15 centini at maturity, exactly half of the 30 pupils in the class. A hors catégorie group, a crazy group. Where unity is strength, where the spirit of emulation (as in sport) gives report cards to be framed. The premise concerns the 5th linguistic E (English, German, Russian) of the high school in via Mura San Teonisto.
The representative
We ask the representative Alyssa Castioni for guidance: «There is no particular secret, teamwork has won», he begins, «we have always encouraged each other. High-level competition is good, we have enjoyed a healthy rivalry. Which pushed everyone to give their best, to try to overcome the best teammate. Yes, the spirit of emulation has guided us throughout the five-year period ».
Group video calls
The team spirit was fueled by smartphone strokes over Dad’s long periods. «We were able to stimulate each other even in the most difficult moments», Alyssa confides, «we lacked physical proximity, but technology has made up for it. I think of the group video calls: evening comparisons to understand how it was going and if everything went smoothly. Also review, especially in the approach to the exam. There was a great desire to help each other, to take each other by the hand. It had always happened in the classroom, especially during breaks or when changing hours. The same thing happened in Dad: a sign of the compactness of the class ».
But the presence is another world: «The continuity of the last month was a salvation. Everyone missed being in the classroom, chatting with the desk mate. The distance from the classroom was a source of stress: everyone felt it ».
From Canova to the university
Now the paths will divide: many are oriented on Medicine, others on Economics. But the years of Canova will not be easily forgotten: «We missed the trip of the last year, but in September 2019 we spent a month in Australia for a cultural exchange. A few months later, the pandemic would break out. We were lucky: an experience that we will carry with us forever ».
The teachers
Behind a great team result, there is always the fundamental role of the helmsman. The role played by the teachers in the school: from the Italian teacher Chiara Di Giusto to the English teacher Bruna Carnio. For the German Francesca Marino, a long-time teacher from Canova: «A class of 30 personalities. Not only study, but also the added value of extra interests such as music or theater. Also the in-depth study in scientific fields. A welcoming class: I took it in the last year, we integrated immediately. A class that you rarely find, of those that you remember: compact, supportive, thick ».
The list of names
Space for the ribs: Alyssa shares the exploit with Davide Albumina, Eleonora Baretta, Beatrice Bolpin, Carola Buosi, Alice Sveva Favaro, Veronica Favero, Michelle Guadagnini, Veronica Michielan, Martina Pinarello, Denise Pincin, Emil Pozzobon, Giulia Sartorello, Beatrice Vincenzi and Gaia Zavarise. But at Canova the highest scores are also flowing in other classes: in the 5ª B linguistic Veronica Botter took the praise; 100/100 for Nadia Cazziolati, Anna Ciavattini and Agnese Dal Molin.
Worthy of mention is the 3rd A classic with four students awarded with honors and seven in total with one hundred: the best are Silvia Pamio (she had approached the exam with the most brilliant report card of the school: average 9.7), Irene Bonariol, Federica De Rovere and Gianluca Zerre: Andrea Emanuela Conduraru, Davide Forcolin and Greta Toffolo-Petrucco complete the “winning package”.
