Appeal of Condifesa to farmers: “Make sure. 70% of the contributions from the EU “

Treviso. The damage is counted after the abundant rains and hailstorms that broke out on the crops of the Marca in this “crazy” May. And amount to 15 million those so far quantified by the TVB Condifesa Consortium which protects the farmers of Treviso through mutual funds and subsidized insurance.

In this regard, the president of the Condifesa Valerio Nadal addresses an important appeal to the members: “I tell our members to make sure, there is time until next May 31 to do so and obtain contributions of up to 70 percent from the EU. Let’s hurry up because in this way we protect our income ”.

The deadline of May 31st applies to grapes, fruit and cereals with autumn sowing, while for spring-sown crops the deadline is the end of June. For hail damage there are compensation for 90 per cent, while for off-season frosts up to 50 per cent. Says the director Filippo Codato: “The rains of these days put the crops in difficulty for their development phase but also the cultivation phases of the farmers, such as tillage, phytosanitary treatments, agronomic treatments. It is important to intervene with innovative technologies to manage the crop ”.

Codato again: “The hailstorms affected dozens of municipalities and caused traumatic events and damage of more than 80 percent, so agriculture has lost almost all of its production. Then other minor phenomena with losses of 10-20 percent such as arable land and fruit crops, which have seen a reduction in the efficiency of flowering. In the viticultural sector the loss is below 10 per cent, in other areas higher peaks. For cherries and apricots, in the early or very early varieties, there are also total losses, ie products that will be missing from our tables ”
