Electric traction project carried out by Quarta Meccanici in collaboration with the Orvim company

Treviso. Little geniuses of mechanics grow up. Giorgi-Fermi presented on Wednesday 26 May an e-kart prototype made by Quarta Meccanici in collaboration with the Orvim company. It is an electric-powered go-kart, complete with a demonstration by a student under the eyes of the principal Maurizio Curcio, of the coordinating teacher Aldo Bettega, of the sponsor and tutor Renato Pellicioli. The operation took off with the contribution of the technicians of Orvim, a Moglianese company that deals with precision machining of composite materials.

The students, in rotation, experimented with the frame, electric motor and inverter. They wrote down estimates and final costs, organized assembly and production of parts. «The added value of the project was undoubtedly the presence of the company’s technicians in the school’s laboratories, thus allowing the development of an effective model of exchange between public and private. As well as between generations ”, observes the headmaster Curcio,“ In this way we contribute to the growth of a territory, facilitating the acquisition of specific skills: an extraordinary example of interaction between school and the world of work ”.

Yes, because the presence in the laboratory of Orvim workers allowed the students to cancel the distances between the subjects learned between the desks (and often this year in Dad) and the real-life feedback. The project was carried out with the material made available by Venetwork, in memory of the entrepreneur Stefano Bortoletto. A great result for the students, considering the year full of difficulties due to the anti-Covid restrictions and the long stay in Dad. But the 4th A mechanics of Giorgi-Fermi does not stop there: pupils and teachers would like to raise the bar next year, working on an economic and marketing project for the production and marketing of electric go-karts. A new challenge with a view on Maturity 2022.
