Treviso, letter to a thousand professors: «Vaccinatevi». From September lessons only in person

Appeal by the administrator Sardella to convince teachers who are not yet protected: “We’re not even thinking about Dad”

TREVISO. The Treviso schools want to start again in presence. Today the infamous Dad (distance learning) is a bugbear to be avoided at all costs, indeed, for the institutions of the Marca it is not even a hypothesis on the table. In order for everyone to go back to school in September, however, students and teachers must massively adhere to the vaccination campaign.

If the pupils have recently started to register on the Ulss portal for vaccinations, the school staff could have done so since last February, yet there are a thousand teachers and collaborators who have not yet done so. In the next few days they will receive the letter-appeal that the administrator Barbara Sardella is preparing.

towards the obligation

The membership of professors and Ata staff is massive, over 90 percent when it comes to first doses. But that means there are still over a thousand unprotected school workers. Ulss 2 data is updated to last July 17: 16,820 teachers and collaborators covered with at least one dose on an audience of 18,000 workers, 14,903 have completed the vaccination cycle.

Since that day, the data have not diverged much: 1,180 school workers, therefore, still have to get vaccinated. The obligation could be triggered: “I am absolutely in favor of vaccinating teachers” reiterates the administrator Sardella, “the obligation is the responsibility of the political body, but in the balance of interests I believe that collective health can be considered prevalent over individual freedom choice. If the spread of the virus is sustained in the coming weeks, I will be in favor of the vaccination obligation ».

letters and appeals

For the moment the only weapon is that of persuasion. Sardella confronted the general director of Ulss 2, Francesco Benazzi, who asked her for help to convince the teachers. «I’m thinking of a shared letter to send to teachers and school staff» confirms Sardella, «a collective invitation to get vaccinated for those who have not yet done so. Those who have not been vaccinated represent a minimal percentage of the school world, but they are still an important slice of the population that if protected would help us start the year with greater serenity and, above all, in the presence. For obvious reasons related to the timing of the vaccination campaign, the share of protected students is still very low, and it is therefore essential that teachers take action ». Are Dad and Did (digital integrated education) therefore destined to end up in history books? «We will work hard to reach the goal we have set ourselves, which is to start school in attendance at 100%. We’re not even talking about Did. Even the most doubtful look at what is happening thanks to vaccines: if the Delta variant is not creating the disaster we have seen in the last year, it is because we now have vaccines to protect us ».
