by admin

A building collapsed in Strada del Bramafame in Turin, not far from the airport road and the Allianz Stadium, near the ring road to Caselle. A 4-year-old boy, Aron, has died. The mother, thirty-four, was pulled out of the rubble and transported to the Turin CTO. The father, a 40-year-old Albanian citizen, who arrived shortly after, was transported in shock to the Maria Vittoria. Three people including the woman are injured, two in serious condition.

The collapse took place before 9 this morning: the noise was heard up to the Madonna di Campagna district, where many say they heard a loud roar. It happened at number 42, a two-storey structure with six apartments where mainly families of Albanian and Romanian origins live, of which only a part remains standing. A LPG gas cylinder would have caused the explosion.

Four, including little Aron who died, are the people involved in the collapse. A man was near the building and was immediately rescued and taken to hospital. The first two adults drawn, man and woman, are in red code to the CTO. The 34-year-old woman was extracted after an hour of work, the other is a 22-year-old boy who is now intubated, with second and third degree burns on 50 percent of his body, prognosis reserved: his name is Robert Panaite, is a surveyor, was on the second floor. He was leaving to go to work: today is his birthday, he had slept at his father’s house, now in Romania, because it was more comfortable for him. The third injured is another 22-year-old boy of Sicilian origins, Devis Licata, who suffered a fracture to the pelvis and a head injury: he entered the operating room at the CTO at 2 pm.

The child, son of the woman admitted to the CTO, was found last: the doctors tried a last desperate aid, but there was nothing more for him to do. On the spot there are Usar (Urban Search and Rescue) teams and dog lovers from the Fire Brigade at work, together with the police. The Nbcr nucleus has ascertained that the cause is a gas leak, probably from an LPG cylinder since the building was not connected to the city’s methane network. This circumstance, confirmed by Italgas: “The property – explains a spokesman – was not served by the city methane distribution network. It is therefore excluded that any leakage may have originated from gas plants managed by the company” .

Nasif, a young warehouse worker who was working nearby at the time of the explosion and who was the first to intervene, says: “I heard the bomb and saw the fire while I was working, there were five people and I pulled one from the rubble: it was a man, all burned and wounded in the hand. He was screaming in pain. I helped him get rid of the rubble, then the firefighters arrived “.

The mayor Chiara Appendino arrived at the scene of the tragedy together with the councilor Alberto Unia, who assured that the Municipality will take care of any displaced persons, and the consul general of Romania, Ioana Gheorghias: “I’m here for our two compatriots involved – said the consul – one is in the hospital seriously, the other we met and he is fine. We are available to support them. I thank all the authorities for the speed of help “.

Too many people still live in extreme conditions. We need a protection network to help. who is not able to do it alone. To welcome – Damilao concludes – means to put everyone in the conditions to have a dignified life and to be able to live it “.
