GEMONA. Respiratory, neurological, heart problems, disorders of the locomotor system: there is this, and much more, in the heavy inheritance with which many of the patients who have overcome Covid-19, more and more often, have to deal with.

For them, an internal and post Sars-Cov-2 clinic was opened yesterday in Gemona that will take care of those with Coronavirus after-effects, but also chronic diseases with the need for monitoring in order to guarantee a good quality of life and avoid repeated hospital visits. Head of the new service is Dr. Rosaria Damato.

“The clinic will be active on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 12 in the hospital for the health of Gemona scale B floor 1 by appointment for 3 or 4 patients per day – explains the district manager David Turello – but it is possible that in a second time the service can be strengthened. It will be accessed with a dematerialized prescription and the services in outpatient specialist assistance will be guaranteed with exemption of the ticket. A dedicated doctor and nurse equipped with extensive equipment, reports Turello, will take care of a therapeutic path that includes a first in-depth internal visit of about 45 minutes, an assessment of clinical stability or post-healing complications from Sars-Cov-2. , starting a first level screening with the global evaluation of the patient through assessments for an overall analysis of the course of the disease such as pulse oximetry, chest x-rays, electrocardiograms and biohumoral analyzes. A second level evaluation will then follow with clinical, laboratory and instrumental examinations of any ascertained complications.

At that point, a treatment program will have to be defined and the patient’s follow-up planned, so that he can undertake a recovery path through outpatient visits avoiding hospital stays and heavy transfers.

A service dedicated to patients who have to deal with the after-effects of Covid has also been provided for the territory of Lower Friuli. In the Palmanova hospital unit, the service has been active since April: it is a dedicated clinic in the Internal Medicine structure whose peculiarity is the multidisciplinary approach that involves, in addition to Medicine itself, also the specialties of Cardiology, Pneumology, Radiology and Physiatry.

A service that guarantees those who, after overcoming the virus, have to face respiratory, cardiac, but also neurological and functional problems to have an appropriate assessment and treatment program. In the clinic activated in Palmanova a functional test is performed to understand the covid-related problems and in particular, if necessary, the CT scan is carried out, an examination that allows you to better understand the after-effects of the infection.
