Two elderly people found mummified at home in Friuli, dead for months: no one had been looking for them for some time

Dead for months, at home, perhaps due to an escape from home, and no one looking for them. In a small house of Villa Primavera in Campoformido, Udine, the bodies, now mummified of husband and wife, two elderly spouses were found. According to an initial reconstruction, the death could even date back to last autumn and the cause could be a sudden gas leak.

The alarm was raised by a relative who for some time had not been able to contact the spouses who lived in the house. The man, until the last few days, had not worried because the couple used to spend long periods abroad. The last contact dates back to last September.

But when the firefighters broke down the door and entered the house they made the macabre discovery. Paolo Simonetti66 years old, and Antonilia Finotto, aged 72, were found in two different rooms: she on the ground floor in the bedroom, he in the living room, both on the first floor of the house. In addition to their bodies there was material of all kinds, stacked everywhere, in multiple rooms. The house had long since appeared neglected, almost completely covered by vegetation. A tragedy of loneliness, which shook the neighborhood and the entire community of Campoformido.
