Original title: Typhoon “Rey” transits the Philippines and has killed 31 people and over 370,000 people have been affected
On the evening of December 18, the National Disaster Reduction Commission of the Philippines issued a briefing stating that as of now, Typhoon Rey has caused at least 31 deaths, 3 injuries and 1 missing in the Philippines.
In addition, 373,110 people from 99,501 families were affected, and 328,847 people were evacuated to 2,283 shelters. In the areas where the typhoon passed, 20 houses were damaged, 29 areas were flooded, 3 areas were hit by mudslides, 193 cities suffered power outages, and 222 areas lost communications.
In terms of transportation, two airports in Palawan and Ramblas have been suspended due to the typhoon and have not yet resumed operations; 12 domestic routes have been suspended and have not yet resumed. Another 77 ports have ceased operations, and currently only 27 ports have resumed operations, with a total of 2,933 passengers stranded in multiple ports.
