According to a statement (link) from the Ministry of Justice on October 29, Shi Jianxiang was promoting a cryptocurrency company when he was arrested. On October 28, Shi Jianxiang appeared in the Las Vegas District Court for the first time. The judge believed that he had doubts about escape, refused the bail request, and ordered him to be detained in Miami before the trial.
The U.S. Department of Justice stated that Shi Jianxiang lied during the process of obtaining a U.S. non-immigrant visa and entered the U.S. at Miami International Airport in 2016 with the two visas he obtained. Future court proceedings will be conducted in Southern Florida.
The statement said that Shi Jianxiang claimed that he had never used another name when applying for a visa, but he actually had another travel document named “Niulong” (Long Niu, transliteration), and in February 2017 Use this document to enter the United States. According to the allegations in the indictment, Shi Jianxiang is suspected of two crimes of fraud and abuse of US non-immigrant visas. If convicted, they will face up to 10 years of federal imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.
