[서울=뉴시스] Correspondent Lee Yoon-hee = As Ukraine’s counterattack against Russia’s invasion is in full swing, the United States will provide additional military aid to Ukraine, including missiles and shells, worth trillions of won.
On the 9th (local time), the Pentagon announced a $2.1 billion security assistance package for Ukraine.
The support package included additional ammunition for the Patriot air defense system, HAWK broadcasting system and missiles, 105 and 203 mm shells, Puma unmanned aerial system and laser guided rocket system ammunition.
“It demonstrates our continued commitment to Ukraine’s critical short-term capabilities, as well as the ongoing capability of the Ukrainian armed forces to deter Russian aggression and protect its territory in the long term,” the Pentagon said.
According to the Associated Press, the United States has provided more than $37.6 billion in security aid to Ukraine since Russia invaded Ukraine in February last year.
